YNN Central New York is a 24-hour local news channel headquartered in Syracuse, New York. YNN stands for "Your News Now." The channel, which is owned and operated by Time Warner Cable, is a member of the YNN network of six Upstate New York news channels, and is also the hub for weather operations across the state. YNN is available only to Time Warner Cable subscribers throughout Central New York, New York's Southern Tier, and the "North Country" including the western/northern Adirondack Region. It was the eleventh channel of this format launched by Time Warner, and one of about 40 local/regional cable newschannels nationwide. It began operations in November 2003 as News 10 Now. Time Warner Cable invested a large amount of capital to launch the channel, including a $6-million restoration of Syracuse's former New York Central Rail Station. In addition to that headquarters facility, YNN Central New York also bases reporters and photographers in five regional newsrooms located throughout its Central/Northern New York coverage area.

In February 2007, News 10 Now added a separate channel with news, weather and sports targeting the Binghamton and Elmira/Corning markets, with five reporters and a technician operating from new bureaus located in Vestal and Corning. This expansion also added four additional producers at the Syracuse headquarters who work exclusively on the Southern Tier program feed, which is now also called YNN. [1].
On May 25, 2005, just 18 months after debuting, Time Warner Cable announced that 30 staff positions would be eliminated in a cost-saving consolidation of its then-three Upstate NY news operations. All of News 10 Now's technical production and master control operations were merged with Capital News 9 (now YNN Capital Region), its sister channel in Albany. YNN Capital Region now serves as the news anchoring and production hub, while YNN Central New York's eight meteorologists produce weather forecasts for its sister operations statewide. The channels retained all their local news gathering crews, producers, facilities, and local news management.
YNN Central New York, YNN Southern Tier, YNN Capital Region (Albany), YNN Rochester, YNN Buffalo, and YNN Hudson Valley (the newest TWC news channel, launched in April, 2010) also share news content with NY1, the flagship Time Warner Cable local cable news channel in New York City (which Time Warner offers to digital cable subscribers in Upstate markets).

The two separate YNN Central NY and YNN Southern Tier channels are available to about 600,000 Time Warner Cable subscribers in all or parts of 25 New York counties, along with portions of Pennsylvania's Northern Tier. This makes the combined operation one of the larger local/regional news channels nationwide, both in terms of subscribers and geographic coverage area. The channel's website won a coveted Edward R. Murrow national "Best Website" award in 2004. Senior Reporter Bill Carey won a national Murrow for Best Feature Reporting in 2008. The channel is also the recipient of five regional Murrows, and several New York State Associated Press and Syracuse Press Club awards.
During the April, 2009 American Civic Association Binghamton shootings, News 10 Now's live coverage was picked up by CNN. A letter from the shooter was mailed to the Syracuse newsroom the day of the shootings, and was received and reported on by the channel three days later.
Time Warner Cable announced on February 12, 2010 that News 10 Now, along with Capital News 9, would be renamed YNN in March, adopting the same brand already in use in Buffalo and Rochester.[2]
