Plot summary[]

Kludd is dead. Nyra, his mate, is determined that her son, Nyroc, will fulfill his father's destiny: the rule of all the owl kingdoms and more. So Nyra continues to feed false stories of glory and a certain hate for Soren, his revered uncle, into Nyroc's mind. Nyroc is a great student of the evil arts. Evil grows in his heart, fed by Nyra's tales of false glory and power. But his friend Phillip has told him of legends and strange news of a place where Good owls retaliate. He must summon all his courage to defy his mother and journey to the great Ga'Hoole tree
