Chandlar

Chandlar (チャンドラー, Chandorā) is from the Ultraman series. He is also called chandrah, or chandler. He appears in the episode #8 "The Lawless Monster Zone".

Subtitle: Winged Monster (有翼怪獣, Yūyoku Kaijū).

Chandlar looks like a giant bat. Chandlar is 36 meters tall and weighs 15,000 tons.

History

Although Chandlar's origins are uncertain, he was seen in battle against Red King suggesting the two have a heated rivalry. The battle appears to be a tie as both monster's traits matches the other's in strength (Chandlar's wind gusts vs. Red King's massive strength.) However after Chandlar draws blood by biting Red King's shoulder, Red King tears off Chandlar's right wing, causing him to wander away in pain. It's assumed he died of his injuries.

The suit of the monster is actually a loosely disguised Peguila suit. (the only changes are that Chandlar has ears.) It's massive wings suggest flight but he never uses the ability on screen.

Ultraman Powered

This monster reappeared in the series Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero.

Much like his original counterpart, Chandlar did battle against the female Red King and ultiamtely lost and died (offscreen, it's assumed he was clawed to death.)

Unlike his original counterpart, this Chandlar did not look like a bat. This Chandlar resembled more of a dragon-type creature. His wings and arms were also thinner and he had horns that went from his head down to his back. This Chandlar was also dark turquoise in color as opposed to the original's color of dark brown.
